2 Hour Rainforest Walk & Totem Park
Our 2 hour tour includes about 30 to 45 minutes of walking time on Ward Creek Nature Trail to a beautiful waterfall viewing area. Venture out among the towering trees of Sitka Spruce, Western Hemlock and Cedar in the lush Tongass National Forest. In season you will see Salmonberries, Huckleberries, and Blueberries. View the Skunk Cabbage while learning how these abundant resources were important to the Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian Natives.
This is a wonderful opportunity to enrich your senses and enjoy the fresh Alaska air on this off the beaten path Ketchikan Tour. Explore nature at its best and admire the old growth trees with moss and lichens blanketing the forest floor. Our local Ketchikan guide will lead you approximately 1 mile roundtrip through the easy gravel rainforest trail (no stairs) while sharing stories of our Alaska Native Heritage. After experiencing the rainforest we will enjoy a hardy cookie and a bottle of water.
Our journey then takes us to a Totem Park where you will see the majestic Alaska Native Totem Poles and go inside a Clan House with the Pacific Ocean setting the perfect back drop. Learn about the meaning of the Totem Poles and the stories behind these magnificent carvings.
